Solved: Vista computers can't ping each other

Postby chicagotech » Wed Feb 07, 2007 6:07 pm

Problem: just setup some Vista here. We can see all of them in the Network. However, we can't ping each other.

Troubleshooting: the Onecare blocks the ping.

To open your machine up if its not pinging or opening on the network is to:

-open windows onecare live window from the taskbar icon
-click change onecare settins
-goto firewall tab
-click advanced settings button
-goto ports and protocols tab
-tick the ICMPv4 inbound tickbox (i gues ICMPv6 inbound too if you can use
this)
