Error Code: 502 Proxy Error

Postby chicagotech » Mon Dec 17, 2007 5:13 pm

Q: I just installed ISA 2004 on our Windows 2003 server. I created a firewall policy to allow the internet, but all clients receive the following message. I also installed ISA SP2, but that doesn't fix problem. Any suggestions?

Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

Try the following:
Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped.
Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link.
If you are still not able to view the requested page, try contacting your administrator or Helpdesk.

Technical Information (for support personnel)

this seems to be a problem with a particular content type
being blocked. You may have created some rules which allow the clients to
access some content while other content will be denied by default. Hereon,
please check the steps I suggest for your reference.

Rule Name: Allow All Users
Action: Allow
Protocol: HTTP, HTTPS
From: Internal
To: External
Apply to: All Users

Please be noted to make this rule in high priority.

Also, please confirm whether the web proxy client is enabled. You can
check it in the ISA console->Configuration node->Network->Right click
Internal->Click Properties->On the Web Proxy tab->'Enable Web Proxy Client'
is checked.

If the client type is Web proxy client, you must configure the web browser
to use the ISA 2004 firewall as their Web Proxy. The proxy is set in the
Web browser's connection settings.

We had another 2 cases.

1. The client installed ISA 2004 in a XP computer using Virtual PC. He received the same error when he tried to access the Internet on the XP computer. The NIC displayed send only and no receive. Rebooting the ISA server fix the problem.

2. The client was setup to use a router as default gateway. Both the LAN settings and gateway should use the same IP address.
