Vista Wireless - Internet works but can't ping computers?

Postby Ledgerous » Thu Dec 27, 2007 1:06 am

I have a strange situation... I have a small wireless network with 4 devices:

1. Desktop computer running Vista Ultimate - 192.168.2.2 (Edit: this computer is plugged in to the router via a CAT5 cable)
2. Mac Powerbook G4 running OS X 10.4.1 - 192.168.2.4
3. Nintendo Wii running latest firmware - 192.168.2.3
4. AL Tech Mediagate MG350-HD running latest firmware - 192.168.2.6

Router: Belkin 7230-4 6000 running latest firmware - 192.168.2.1

Setup: Running DHCP with net range of 192.168.2.xxx and subnet 255.255.255.0

All of the above devices can connect to the internet no problem at all, they can all ping the router without any issues as well. However none of them will talk to each other.

A simple example is: If I try ping my G4 from Vista it just says "Destination Host Unreachable"

I have a similar problem if I try ping my Vista computer from the G4.

This really has me stumped as I dont understand why they can't ping each other if they can ping the router?

Any help would be greatly appreicated as this is driving me nuts!! :|

I just did another test, if I plug my G4 in to my router I CAN ping my Vista machine... but then if I unplug and go back to wireless I cannot. :(
