DNS redundancy

Postby guest » Fri Dec 01, 2006 6:07 pm

We have two windows 2000 servers as DCs with two DNS. Each DNS server points itself as DNS server and point other DNS as secondary. All clients set DC1 as Preferred DNS and DC2 as Alternative DNS. that works fine.

The problem is no computer can access the web sites if the DC1 reboots until the DC1 comes back. In other words, the computers don't use alternative DNS. Any ideas?

Make sure "enabling DNS names in the zone to be resolved for clients if a primary server for the zone stops responding". Details can be found this link.
