Allow users to connect remotely to this computer grayed out

Postby chicagotech » Tue Apr 22, 2008 8:11 am

Q: In control panel->system->remote->remote desktop the check box and line
"Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" are greyed out. Does
anyone know if there is some pre-req to un-grey this? or how to un-grey it?
so I can enable and get started.

A: In most cases, this happens due to a Policy setting. If this is domain computer, contact the network administrator. If it is a stand-alone computer, follow these steps:

1. Run GPEDIT.MSC.
2. Go to Computer configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Terminal Services
3. In the right-pane, double-click Allow users to connect remotely using Terminal Services
4. Set it to Not configured
