Can I change WSS standalone mode to server farm mode

Postby guest » Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:45 am

This change is impossible. This is not only because SQL Server embedded edition doesn't allow remote connection, but also because the installation mode and server structure have been written to the registry keys and configuration database. To change the installation mode, the only way is to uninstall and reinstall the WSS 3.0 server, and then restore the web applications by attaching the original content
databases.

For detailed information, please refer to the following TechNet article.

Note: This article is for Office SharePoint Server 2007, and it describes some components which are not included in the WSS 3.0 server. In this article, you may ignore the SSP part and follow the rest paragraphs.
