Word cannot compete the save due to a file permission error

Postby chicagotech » Sun May 04, 2008 10:49 am

We are running WSS 3 on SBS 2003. Both Vista and XP computers can upload files to shared documents. XP computers can open and save the same file name from the shared documents. However all Vista computers can't save the same name after opening a file. But the Vista can save the file to different name. For example, if I open the file name called test.doc, I can't save it as the same name. If I try, I will receive this error: "Word cannot compete the save due to a file permission error". If I save it as test1.doc, it is OK. Any suggestions?

It works if I choose Edit in Word from the drop down in the Document
Library. If I double-click to the word document, it is read-only that is why
I can't save it.
