mstsc /console is replaced with mstsc /admin in Vista

Postby guest » Sun May 18, 2008 10:21 am

You would like to know whether the "/console" option is still available
in Vista's mstsc.

Grant, please understand that the "/console" option has been replaced by
"/admin". If the remote machine is XP SP3, Vista SP1 or Windows Server
2008, "/console" will not work to connect to console session as they are
using RDP 6.1. So I'd like to confirm if you are using these clients. If
yes, please use "/admin" instead of "/console" to connect to console
session. "/admin" switch will let you connect to the console session. You
can type "mstsc /admin" (without quotation mark) in Run dialog box and
connect to the terminal server.
