After installing XP SP3 you receive Do you want to move file

Postby fenton » Mon May 19, 2008 8:32 pm

After installing Windows XP SP3, the following message is received when
dragging and dropping files on a network share:

"Do you want to move or copy files from this zone?"

If I have misunderstood your concern, feel free to let me know.

Based on my research, the issue is related to IE security settings. I
suggest you try the following steps to test the issue:

Step 1: Add the UNC path of the network share to Local intranet sites
========
1. Click Start, click Run, type inetcpl.cpl and click OK.
2. Switch to the Security tab.
3. Highlight "Local intranet", click "Default level" and click Apply.
4. Click Sites, click Advanced, type the UNC path of the network share and
click Add. (For example: \\server\share)
5. Click Close and click OK.
6. Click OK.

If the issue persists, proceed with the next step:

Step 2: Add the UNC path of the network share to Trusted sites
========
1. Click Start, click Run, type inetcpl.cpl and click OK.
2. Switch to the Security tab.
3. Highlight "Trusted Sites", click "Default level" and click Apply.
4. Click Sites, type the UNC path of the network share, uncheck the option
"Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" and click
Add.
5. Click Close and click OK.
