Fluke can monitor servers but workstations

Postby guest » Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:38 pm

Situation: The client uses Fluke OptiView III to monitor their network traffic. They can see all servers but workstations.

Troubleshooting: all workstations SNMP have the same settings of the server. However, when doing port scanning, the UDP port 161 is listening but filtered. The problem is the XP firewall blocks SNMP port. To make it work, run windows firewall, add c:\windows\system32\snmp.exe to the exception.

We have another two cases.

1. The Fluke can't see the computer because of the SNMP was not enabled.

2. The problem is the SNMP didn't have correct security settings.
