Do windows 2008 and Vista support ActiveSync

Postby guest » Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:40 pm

you would like to know if Windows Server 2008 supports ActiveSync or
any other application to talk to smartphones.

Microsoft ActiveSync cannot be installed on a computer that is running
Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista. In Server 2008 and Vista, it is
replaced by Windows Mobile Device Center.

For more information and the download link, please refer to the following

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/ ... ice-center.

Note: Windows Mobile Device Center also supports Windows Server 2008.
Please enable Desktop Experience feature of Windows Server 2008 before
proceeding with the installation. For detailed steps, please refer to the
following KB article:

Error message when you try to install Windows Mobile Device Center on a
computer that is running Windows Server 2008: "The update could not be
installed because at least one Windows component required by Windows Mobile
Device Center is missing"

As Windows Mobile Device Center is not supported in this community, if you
have any further problem, please feel free to post it to Activesync /
Windows Mobile Device Center forum:
