Windows 2008 DC cannot browse network

Postby guest » Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:42 pm

Windows 2008 DC cannot browse the
network and mapped share is dropped twice today.

Analysis
======
From the symptom that you have described, it appears that the network
access to the DC has some problem. Let's focus on the browsing issue first.

Suggestion
=========
Please check the following settings and services:
1. On the client side,
Please check if Workstation service is start and running. If no, please
start it.
Please check if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled. If no, please enable it.
2. On the DC side,
Please check if Computer Browser service is start and running.
Please check if Server service is start and running.
Please check if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.
3. Please try to connect to the DC using both \\NetbiosName and \\FQDN and
tell me the resutls.

Many thanks fo your reply. I was able to replicate the issues in my lab and
worked through using browstat and soem online help. The issues were resolved
by altering upgrading the broadcom nic to latest drivers, re-enabled IPv6
which appears to be disabled on the NIC when installing Symantec ENdpoint
Protection. I removed the Endpoint protection too as SMB shares were
disappearing randomly.
