USB Wireless not working after XP SP3 download

Postby chicagotech » Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:30 am

Sympton: Have installed XP SP3 on Dell Dimension 3000 and am now unable to use Dlink DWL-G122 USB Wireless Adapter. Uninstalled and tried re-installing USB Adapter with no joy : (

Restore works great and am able to get USB adapter working after rolling back to SP2 but no way under SP3

Error messages include :The procedure entry point aptSearchInterface could not be located in dynamic link library wlanapi.dll and answers in other threads pointing to hotfix for the API. See KB 918997

Tried this Hotfix that came out for SP2, however it will not run or install on SP3 - So I'm back where I started.

Any other suggestions?

S U C C E S S !!!!

Dlink's American site have a listing of updated wireless drivers for XP SP3, including one for the DWL G122.

Have installed it and it is working perfectly. Have rebooted numerous times and mucked around for a few hours using the USB device and it appears to be working very reliably.

The updated drivers did not appear in the normal driver update location, but were located after typing XP SP3 into the FAQ search bar.

Good luck to anyone else who was having trouble with their Dlink wireless devices.

PS the error messages advising WZCSLDR2 and AirGCFG not found/loaded continue to appear and I have disabled them in MSCONFIG. This had no affect on the functionality of the wireless USB device, and they may be a left-over from the earlier installation - I did try to uninstall the previous Dlink installation, but it didn't seem to correctly uninstall.

I also had S U C C E S S!!. with d-link dwl-g122 rev B. I installed the driver 2.04 found in the d-link support page for the hardware, the one that says that it corrected some 64 bit installation issues. It also fixes the winapi error that comes up after you update to Windows XP SP3. The driver lets you use de air plus utility which fixes the disconnection issues that you guys are experiencing. Hopefully D-link will update the drivers in Vista also so i can finally upgrade my PC.

I just wasted a day trying to get my D-Link DWA-110 working after a SP3 upgrade to Windows XP. Eventually I downloaded V1.3 of the driver software from the D-Link site to fix the problem as the following URL:
