I contacted Symantec and was told that is a known bug in Norton
Antivirus 2007. Downloading the latest version and updates (50 Mb)
fixed the problem. I am now running Version 14.2.0.29.

Thanks for your help which pointed me in the right direction.

Sorted out the problem (sort of). After turning off the Norton
Internet protection features, you have to REBOOT your computer. Now
VPN works again, but how do I get VPN and Internet protection at the
same time?

What's the error code?

A VPN connection from my computer running WinXP Pro SP2 which used to
work for a couple of years, stopped working. I uninstalled and
recreated the VPN connection with no success.

I then tried it on another computer in the same LAN using a NAT router
for access to the Internet and it works without a problem. How can I
fix my computer short of wiping all the disks and re-installing
everything?

I tried it with and without the firewall enabled. Any help will be
appreciated.
