MX to gmail doesn't work internally

Postby chicagotech » Wed Dec 31, 2008 11:47 am

Q: I have followed your instruction How to setup MX for using gmail - http://www.chicagotech.net/netforums/vi ... php?t=5462 to create a subdomain pointing to ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. It works in the Internet, but not in internally because our network domain name and wen domain name are the same. How do we fix this problem?

A: In this case, you need to you need also create MX in the internal DNS. For example, our domain name is chicagotech.net and our subdomain name for the mail is mail.chicagotech.net. We need to create name=mail, type=Mail Exchange (MX) Data=10 aspmx.google.com in our DNS Manager. To test it, run these commands:

Default Server: dc1.chicagotech.net

> set q=mx
> mail
Server: dc1.chicagotech.net

mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = aspmx.google.com
