Gmail pilot issue

Postby guest » Mon Jan 05, 2009 1:23 pm

Situation: The client has followed Google Apps Premier Edition - Enterprise Pilot Guide to configure dual delivery for pilot test.

They have setup dual delivery on the Exchange and DC. They can send and receive emails in using Gmail without any issues. If they send emails to a user from outside (e.g. blin@yahoo.com), it show up in gmail. However, if they send emails internally (e.g. from user@chicagotech.net to helpdesk@chicagotech.net), the Gmaill doesn't show the email.

Case 1: The client's network domain name and the Internet domain name are the same. To fix this issue, they need to create internal MX pointing to Google.

Case 2: The MX record doesn't point to correct Google server. This nslookup displays MX record with problem:

nslookup
Default Server: dc1.chicagotech.net
Address: 10.0.0.17

> set q=mx
> mail.chicagotech.net
Server: 2008dc1.chicagobotanic.org
Address: 10.0.0.17

mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = aspmx.google.com

The problem is that correct server name is aspmx.l.google.com.

This is correct setting:

mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = aspmx.l.google.com
mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 30, mail exchanger = aspmx3.googlemail.com
mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 30, mail exchanger = aspmx2.googlemail.com
mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 20, mail exchanger = alt2.aspmx.l.google.com
mail.chicagotech.net MX preference = 20, mail exchanger = alt1.aspmx.l.google.com
aspmx.l.google.com internet address = 74.125.47.114
aspmx.l.google.com internet address = 74.125.47.27
aspmx3.googlemail.com internet address = 209.85.199.27
