Cisco Wireless: Unknown authenticator

Postby chicagotech » Fri May 04, 2007 11:37 am

Situation: we tried to setup 3 Cisco 1310 Wireless bridges as chain, one root bridge (IP 54) + 1st non-root bridge (IP 53) + 2nd non-root bridge (IP 55). We can access the wireless from the 1st non-root bridge but not 2nd non-root bridge. However, we can access the 2nd non-root bridge using wired. Also we can ping the 2nd non-root bridge 55 from any points.

The root bridge has this message: Unknown authenticator: IP 55.
The 1st non-root bridge receives this message: Station 000e.350b.f15b Authentication failed
The 2nd non-root bridge receives this message: Interface Dot11Radio0, Station 000e.350b.f15b Associated KEY_MGMT[WPA].

Cause and solution: The local RADIUS server which is the root bridge receives an authentication request but does not recognize the IP address of the network access server (NAS) that forwarded the request. Make sure that the 2nd non-root bridge's configured as a NAS on your local RADIUS server.
