Acrobat error "Fatal Error: Acrobat Failed to connect to a DDE server"

Situation: Acrobat generates the following error "Fatal Error: Acrobat Failed to connect to a DDE server"

Cases: 1. I think I may have found the root cause of this issue (on my system at least). I have been running an app called PhraseExpress in the background and whenever it is running , I encounter the problem but if I turn off this app and reboot, the problem disappears and I have not seen it since.
2. I had the same problem and struggled with it also. I finally solved my problem by uninstalling reader 9.1, air, acrobat.com and THEN after a restart, installing a lite version of reader 9.1
3. We upgrade to Sophos Anti-virus as well. It looks like things are pointing towards Sophos. Our Cisco VPN clients are having issues connecting back into the office after the upgrade to Sophos.
4. I installed LOGMEIN today and started getting the Fatal Errors:Acrobat failed to connect a DDE server. So, it is not just the Sophos or whatever the previous common denominator seemed to be.

6. Generally this error comes from an anti-virus program blocking the software from connecting. Check McAfee for any type of Software blocks or firewall issues. If that doesn't work then uninstall and reinstall the program and see if McAfee then pops up with a message asking you for permission to let it access the internet.
7. Removing the checkmark beside "USE DDE" in the File Types section of Windows Explorer
(In Windows Explorer, Click on Tools=>Folder Options=>File Types=> PDF=>Advanced=> Open=> Change=> Use DDE)
