Can’t add Terminal Services Client ActiveX
Control” in IE 8
Microsoft Terminal Services Client ActiveX Control
is either not available, or is not enabled
Problem:
When trying to access windows SBS 2008 RWW, some client receive this
message: “The Microsoft Terminal Services Client ActiveX Control (also known
as Microsoft RDP Client Control) is either not available, or is not
enabled”.
Case 1:
Try to run regsvr32 mstscax.dll which is
successful loaded.
Case 2:
Make sure the RDC is v6.1. If not, please download it from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6E1EC93D-BDBD-4983-92F7-479E088570AD&displaylang=en
- Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal
Services Client 6.1) for Windows XP
(KB952155).
Case 3:
Add the
Remote Web Workplace Web site to the trusted site list
a. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
b. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
c. In Internet Options, click Security.
d. On the Security tab, click Trusted sites, and then click Sites.
e. In Trusted sites, for Add this website to the zone, type your
organization's Web address (URL) for Remote Web Workplace, for example,
https://remote.contoso.com Click
Add, and then click Close.
Case 4:
Reset IE settings to default:
a. Start IE
b. Click File, and then click Import and Export.
c. Follow the steps in the wizard to export your Favorites.
d. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
e. Click Advanced, and then click Reset.
Case 5:
Install
the below update on the problematic client computers
Some components of an application may not be displayed correctly in a
Terminal Services session if you connect to a terminal server by using RDC
6.1 from a client computer that is running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista
SP1, or Windows Server 2008
