Yellow exclamation on Microsoft VMBus Network Adapter

Situation: We have one Windows 2003 server VM running on Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-v. The VM was working until we formatted and re-install windows 2008 r2 on the host. Now, the Windows 2003 VM is running but can't setup network and there is yellow exclamation on Microsoft VMBus Network Adapter.

Troubleshooting: I have posted this issue Microsoft forum and searched it in Google. I have tried these:

1. I have tried to upgrade and re-install Integration. Similar case can be found here:

New VMBus Network Adapter not installed Properly

2. HAL issue is not for this issue because we are running windows 2008 R2. You may refer to this post:

VMBus this device cannot start code 10

3. Uninstalling the VMBus and re-installing don't fix the problem. To uninstall VMBus Network Adapter, open Device Manager and click Network adapters. Right click on it and select uninstall. After I re-install it, I get Cannot Start this Hardware with Code 10.

4. I have removed the network adapter from VM settings and I have removed the virtual network from the Hyper-v Manager. Then re-created it.

5. I have used devcon to remove VMBus network from the registry. For the details how to use devcon please check this post: Hidden Network Interfaces

6. I have tried the method:
>> Opened registry editor and went to the following key

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network

>> Backed the Key and deleted the Config entry on the right pane of the Network
>> rebooted the machine and selected the Scan for hardware devices

This method is quoted from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937056

Finally, I fixed this issue by update the drive. In my first try, I select Microsoft VMBus Network Adapter that doesn't work. Then Ii select Microsoft Virtual Machine Bus Network Adapter. That fixes the problem.

Note: in a case you can't make VMBus work you may try to use Legacy network adapter for a temporary solution. You may refer to this post: VM not recognizing virtual network adapter
