Subfolder in DFS root is empty - Resolution with screenshots

We are running Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 domain. Just created a DFS in two Windows 2012 R2. The problem is sometimes the DFS root folder is empty. For example, I login my Laptop, I can see all folders under dfs root (S) (The left of the screenshut). When I login a server, I can see the mapped dfs root (S), but it doesn’t show any folders under the root (The right of the screenshut).

Mapping to domainname\root manually works. I can map Both server shared folder like \\server\folder. Running dcdiag does see the below error.

check if fail-back is enabled on DFS namespace.

......................... ABCDC01 passed test NCSecDesc

Starting test: NetLogons

[ABCDC01] User credentials does not have permission to perform this

operation.

The account used for this test must have network logon privileges

for this machine's domain.

......................... ABCDC01 failed test NetLogons

Starting test: ObjectsReplicated

......................... ABCDC01 passed test ObjectsReplicated

Starting test: Replications

[Replications Check,ABCDC01] DsReplicaGetInfo(PENDING_OPS, NULL)

failed, error 0x2105 "Replication access was denied."

......................... ABCDC01 failed test Replications

Starting test: RidManager

......................... ABCDC01 passed test RidManager

Starting test: Services

Could not open NTDS Service on ABCDC01, error 0x5

"Access is denied."

......................... ABCDC01 failed test Services

What could be the problem?

RESOLUTION:      1) For the mapped drive S:\ mapped using Group policy preference, over DFS namespace were able to get mapped drive but were not able to see its subsequent contents, files and folders

                        2) When we had active target was set as DFS04, were not able to get the contents but with active target as DFS03 were able to get contents successfully without any errors

                        3) For the namespace server DFS04 found that this was pointing to c:\DFSROOTS

                        4) Updated the information for server DFS04 with shared data at E:\ shared

                      5) Now we were able to get data for all the users with both the servers DFS03 and DFS04 as targets, also ensured that we were able to get group policy to take effect successfully without any errors.

                      6) Were not able to get mapped drive for Administrator account, thus added Administrator account to inclusion list with OR RULE to item level targeting in GPP setting and now were able to get mapped drive for administrator account as well.
