Web email doesn't work because of DNS Situation: The client just switch to a new ISP. They have the ISP added A record on he ISP DNS pointing the new IP address to the web site. The web site works outside but inside. Also their Imail doesn't work inside and outside. Troubleshooting: 1. This is loopback issue for internal access. Some routers or firewalls don't loop back to the inside web site so that they can't access the web sites they are hosting. To solve this issue, add two records for www and imail on the internal DNS, for example, www.chicagotech.net and imail.chicagotech.net. Refer to Route Loopback Issue 2. The problem for outside accessing email is because the ISP doesn't create a record on the DNS pointing the public IP address to imail.chicagotech.net. After they have the ISP created the record, it works. Related Topics What you should know about DNS
