Could not initialize memory: There is not enough space on the disk (0x80070070)  - Resolution with screenshots

Situation: We are running Windows 2008 R2 with Hyper-V enabled. After extending disk space on one of VM drive (from 50GB to 100GB), we can't start the VM with this message: "Could not initialize memory: There is not enough space on the disk (0x80070070)". The VHD locate in the F drive of the host. The F drive has total 1TB spaces and has 15GB free spaces left after expending.

Cause: Since virtual machines need to save configuration files on host machine, it requires some spaces on host machine. In general, the required spaces are equal to or large than VM RAM or Pagefiles. This space is on the disk which contains .BIN files. To check the .BIN files, please follow these steps:

1. Open the Hyper-V Manager; click the Hyper-V Settings

2. Locate the drives which contain the Virtual Machines files (.bin files, .vsv files and snapshot files) and the Virtual Hard Disks files

We may have two options to fix this problem.

1. Add more spaces to the Host drive where are BIN files located.

2., You can export the VM into another large local drive and then import it in Hyper-V.
