Windows stop error code: 0x0000008e - Case Collections

Case 1: we received this message "Stop error code 0x0000008e" or "Stop error code 0x00000050 (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)" during Windows XP setup.

This behavior may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

One or more of the random access memory (RAM) modules that are installed on your computer are faulty.

The RAM configuration is incompatible with Windows XP.

Case 2: It could be hardware driver issue. Please refer to this post: What does this error code mean? BCCode : 1000008e

Case 3: You may receive an error message on a Windows-based computer: "STOP 0x00000050" or "STOP 0x0000008e"

Case 4: This problem may occur if the computer is infected with a variant of the HaxDoor virus.

The HaxDoor virus creates a hidden process. Additionally, the virus hides files and registry keys. The executable file name of the HaxDoor virus may vary, but the file name is frequently Mszx23.exe. Many variants of this virus put a driver that is named Vdmt16.sys or Vdnt32.sys on the computer. This driver is used to hide the virus process. The HaxDoor virus variants can restore these files if you delete them.

Case 5: it could be hardware issue. Please check this post: Windows blue screen with 1000008e code

Case 6: It could be heating issue. Please check this post: BCCode : 1000008e

Case 7: It looks like these stop errors relate to antivirus software…need to update.

Customers should contact Symantec for support. As a workaround we can try the following
WORKAROUND
Uninstall Symantec Antivirus 10 and then reinstall the updated version. This should put the correct version of files in place.
