Event id 1019, 1023 and 1035 - POP3 Connector Error

Symptoms: the company has Windows SBS 2003 with Exchange running. The Event Viewer displays these Event IDs:

Event Type:        Error
Event Source:     POP3 Connector
Event Category: Download
Event ID:   1019
Description: The message download process finished with one or more errors.

Event Type:        Error
Event Source:     POP3 Connector
Event Category: Download
Event ID:   1035
Description: A error occurred in connecting to the <server.domain.com> POP3 server for user <administrator>. The error is 11004. The server may be down for maintenance or your server is not connected to the Internet.

Event Type:        Error
Event Source:     POP3 Connector
Event Category: Download
Event ID:   1023
Description: The downloading process for mailbox <administrator [server.domain.com]> was ended with one or more errors.

Also the POP3 Default Virtual Server has a red x on it.

Causes: The exchange POP3 service is not running while there is/are some users had been added into the POP3 Connector Manager.

Resolutions: 1. Start POP3 service if you want to use POP3 Connector.

2. Remove the user from the POP3 Connector Manager if you don’t want to use it.
