Receive old IP when ping host name Q1: I can't access other local computers through the explorer. Most computers and peripherals seem to remain hidden through the explorer, the others can't be accessed. Some computers can be accessed by using a drive letter network connection to the IP address. If I ping to the server's name I receive an old IP
address. If I ping to its If possible I would like to reset my PC network settings to rebuild it as new. Is there a manner to do this without having to reinstall windows? A1: Do you have internal DNS or WINS? I would check the DNS and WINS settings first. Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Q2: Thanks for the tip.
I've re-looked my TCP/IP settings very well and found that the wrong WINS
data was entered (from the old IP address). I've changed it to the new
address and my problem is solved. Related Topics
