Have not had reliable networking after windows update

Q: After installing the windows update, I am now having intermittent problems with networking. Prior to 1803 I used homegroup sharing and it worked fine. When homegroup was removed I switched to workgroup and have not had reliable networking ever since.

A: It could be the windows 10 1803 update. Simply adding a network location that may fix the the problem. Alternatively, enable  SMB.
