Solution for Peer to Peer VPN using
the same IP range.
Q: In our office, we are
using IP 192.168.0.0/24. My boss has a home network using 192.168.0.0/24. I
have created a XP VPN for him to access his XP computer. He can establish
the VPN, but can't access the computer in the office. How can I fix it?
A: In most cases, if both
sites are using the same IP range, the router route the traffic locally. So,
he can't access the office computer even he establishes the VPN. You may
have some options as below.
1. Modify the routing table -
Peer to peer route via VPN connection
or
Resolution for VPN server and client using the same IP
range
2. Setup IPSec VPN -
VPN using same ip in the different subnet
3. You may setup a different IP range or subnet for
peer to peer VPN. For example, in your case, you can use IP 172.16.5.1 for
the VPN host and 172.16.5.2 for the VPN client so that the client can access
host using 172.16.5.1.
