Situation: when booting HP server, you may receive this error messages;

System Halted.

207-Failed memory detected in sock 3A

The memory is not installed in sequentially.

Case 1: The client has 4 1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300F-555-11-B0 B5E80301 HYS72T128420HFA-3S-B and 2 1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300F-555-11-B0 A5E64829 HYS72T128420HFN-3S-A in their ProLiant DL380 G5. They get 207-Failed memory detected in sock 3A  and System Halted.

Fixed: The DL380 G5 has total 8 memory slots. They put 2 A5E64829 HYS72T128420HFN-3S-A in Bank A1 and A3, 2 B5E80301 HYS72T128420HFA-3S-B in Bank C2 and C4, 2 2 B5E80301 HYS72T128420HFA-3S-B in Bank B2 and B4. The correct way to install these memory should be

All 4 2 B5E80301 HYS72T128420HFA-3S-B in Bank in Bank A and Bank C because they are in the Branch 0. Install A5E64829 HYS72T128420HFN-3S-A in Bank because it is Branch 1.

Case 2: The client installed the memory on Bank 1A and Bank 5B. By design, we should install the memory pairs  memory in pairs.

Case 3: The client installed two difference memory in Bank B. By design, FBDIMM pairs in a memory bank must have identical RAM.

Case 4: The client has a memory sequential order.  FBDIMMS must be installed in sequential order, beginning with Bank A.
