Vista and XP ICS problem with 169 IP address

Symptom: You setup Vista as ICS host and XP as guest client connecting to the host computer directly. You can share data each other but can’t access the Internet.

Troubleshooting: Run ipconfig /all on both computers and the IP addresses are 169.254.x.x.

Possible cause: 1. It is the bad cross over cable or it is not cross over cable.

2. You setup bridge instead of the ICS.

3. It is 3^rd party software issue. For troubleshooting, start the Vista with clean boot.

4. Winsock is corrupted
