Slow to open a file or browse because of mapping to disconnected drive Situation: After the client removed a member server from the domain, they got a lot phone calls to complaint slow browsing. For example, when a user tries to browse his department shared folder from Word, it took 1 or 2 minutes to open it. Troubleshooting: When we open Windows Explorer, we saw the mapping drives of the removed server with red X. If we clicked on it, it take 1 minutes to display disconnected drive error. Resolution: Disconnect the drive manually, browsing speed came back to normal. We also suggested they to modify the logon script so that it won't map the server drive any more. Related Topics
