“Cannot access folder because the path is too long or deep”

"File creation error - The semaphore timeout period has expired"

Bad hard drive related case

1. We receive the following error message: “Cannot access folder because the path is too long or deep” when accessing a local drive”. Found out that the HDDs donot have bad sectors on them.

2. One thing I have noticed is that I would get the path too deep when copying files to new jumpdrives, maxtor 250gb USB drives. I formatted the drive using NTFS and all problems went away.

3. I usually get it if I try to copy to My Documents folder. If I copy direct to other folders of that drive then it works fine. Running Error-checking fixed the problem.
