“The group sales@chicagotech.net isn’t set up to receive messages from info@chicagotech.net”

Situation: The client just created a distribution group email in Office 365. The members of the group send and receive email without any problems. However, other company users can’t send the email to the group with this message: “The group sales@chicagotech.net isn’t set up to receive messages from info@chicagotech.net”.

Troubleshooting: most users were migrated from their Exchange server. This group was created in Office 365. If you check the the Group Type and Status in Office 365, you can see the different.

Even their email addresses are in the same domain name, but the group types are different. We fixed it by enabling “Let people outside the organization send email to the group” as shown below.

“This system cannot determine if the license server is registered as service connection point(SCP) in Active Dirctory Domain Services(AD DS) because the AD cannot be contacted”.

Situation: The client a couple hundred users access their system remotely using RDP. Some remote users complaint that they keep losing the connections.

Troubleshooting: We suspect it is RD license issue. When Login RD license Manager, we do see the yellow !. If we click on Review Configuration, it shows this error: “This system cannot determine if the license server is registered as service connection point(SCP) in Active Dirctory Domain Services(AD DS) because the AD cannot be contacted”.

  1. Go to configuration or Change Scope to fix any issues.
  2. Restart the RD license service.
  3. Re-install the RD license.

Enter a product key for Windows 10

Situation: The client just received a new Dell computer with Windows 10. After installing the computer, the computer popup for a product key.

Troubleshooting: In most cases, Windows 10 activates automatically using a digital license and doesn’t require you to enter a product key. If the computer doesn’t activate it automatically, you may run windows troubleshooting under Activation window.

Can’t run Add-ins in Outlook

Situation: After installing an add-ins in Outlook 2016, the user has a problem to run Outlook with the add-ins.

Troubleshooting: We find there are two Office 365 running on the computer. One is pre-loaded office 365. Uninstalling the pre-loaded Office fixes the problem.

The real reason is Pre-loaded Office 365 is 63Bit. Their Add-ins is 32 bit. You must install Office 365 32 bit for the 32 bit Add-ins.

vmiv error: Description = Initialization failure

Situation: the client follow this post ( How to enable Shadow copy in Windows 10 ) to enable Shadow copy on his windows 10, he gets this error: Description = Initialization failure. Why?

Troubleshooting: 1. In most cases, the drive doesn’t have enough spaces.

2. If it is UAC mapping drive, try either turning it off or running the app as Administrator.

3. Make sure Volume shadow copy service is running.

ShoreTel/Mitel phone doesn’t work

Situation: The client has some VPN users work at home. Recently, VPN users have a problem to make calls or receive calls.

Troubleshooting: 1. Change the Shretel/Mitel Connect connecting server from name to IP address. Please refer to this post:

2. If they have Windows update, please install them and then restart the computer.

3. Logoff the ShreTel/Mitel, and then re-login.

4. Restart the computer.

SFTP Server unexpectedly close network connection

Situation: the client has Syncplify SFTP setup. All users can access SFTP except one. The message is Server unexpectedly close network connection.

Troubleshooting: 1. The Paloalto firewall monitor shows Rule Incomplete.
